Weddings at Larchfield House, Co. Wicklow

A Georgian house at the end of a mile of beech avenue, yours alone from Friday lunchtime to Sunday. The ceremony is in the walled garden when the weather allows and in the orangery when it doesn't, and nobody has to drive anywhere afterwards.

It suits couples who want a house party more than a function: 24 bedrooms, one wedding a weekend, and a kitchen that cooks for your number instead of a banqueting list. Dinner is in the long room for up to 180, with the doors open to the terrace in summer.

The catch is the size. Over 180 guests won't fit, there is no leisure centre, and the nearest overflow beds are fifteen minutes away in Rathdrum, so a coach home is worth booking early.
